Is it the voice of the Batman, the honour of the Gladiators or the unparalleled speed of the Flash that fuels us and drives us into the world of movies? Or maybe it’s something far more deeper like filling an empty void of desire and dreams that seem far from reach.
So I went around asking people, who would you be if you got an opportunity to live the life of a character in a movie. And I got countless answers… But the following answers were a little different and interesting.
Arjun Ramachandran, a student in Amrita university said that he wanted to be- “CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW” ( Johnny Depp )from the movie, Pirates of the Caribbean . When the reason for this choice was asked he said, “He (jack sparrow) is always calm in dangerous situations and clever in such a funny way. He is a very weird character and has a unique personality. But most importantly, no matter what he always survives in the end!”.

When asked to an older person about which movie character he wanted to be, he answered: Jagannadhan (Mohanlal) in malayalam movie- Aaraam Thampuran. Reason : “That character is a very classic, dominant, manly and powerful . The character’s personality and attitude is amazing. The way of the dialogue delivery and the style is very appealing.”

When asked to another student from Thrissur, she answered she wanted to be “SHERLOCK HOLMES“. Reason: “I want to do deductions about different people and understand them without even knowing them. He is sheer genius. The way he thinks,acts and investigates can not be duplicated. He is both a hero and a villain to many people ie; He is socially unacceptable but once you get to know him you will admire him to the core.”

Rahul Menon a college student from Palakkad said that he wanted to be – “DOMINIC TORETTO” (Vin Diesel) The fast and furious film series. Reason: “That character is fearless. He can live and die for his family. His life as suggested by the movie title is fast and furious.A life full of action and adventure.”

Swetha sivadas a student studying in tenth grade from Thrissur said that she wanted to be “HARRY POTTER” (Daniel Radcliffe) Reason: “I like Harry Potter because it takes me to another universe. It creates a separate world through which I am lead into a world of adventure with the trio. It also has a component of realism to it and I find that very refreshing. The wonderful world of magic in it is amazing.”

Another student from Amrita university wanted to be “JAMES BOND” Reason : “He’s a secret agent (cool profession). He is popular with “the ladies”. He drives the most amazing cars and has unbelievable gizmos or gadgets . He’s excellent at combat, wears marvelous suits and awesome shoes. He also has quite a resume, whenever he changes careers for a mission.”

Sreeram nair a college student from Ernakulam said that he wanted to be “JOKER” (HEATH LEDGER) from Batman. This was a very popular choice among many teenagers. Reason : “The Joker is the most perfect villain ever made. He is cunning, ruthless, funny, intimidating,smart,and often unbeatable. He is a really well-developed, shrewd and entertaining character. Also, The Joker ,with his lack of a proper identity, creates a more frightening character. He has a genius mind and achieves what he wants by hook or by crook. Joker will always be loved and remembered for being the most awesome villain ever.

When asked to Mukesh Kanna, a student of Amrita university he wanted to be “VINAYAK MAHADEVAN” (AJITH aka THALA) from the Tamil movie Mankatha. Reason: “He has a very twisted character, Mass. He is an evil genius, master planner and loves to live life as though he’s playing a game. His life is full of action and excitement. His attitude and style in the movie is very impressive.”

A student from Amrita University said that she wanted to be “AMY DUNNE” (Rosamund Pike) from Gone Girl. Reason: ” Almost all the movies has the lead role played by a male. This is one of the very few movies which shows a female in a very dominating and lead role. A genius,cunning woman who uses men for her personal gain. Pretty cool, devilish, evil character who plans everything very well. she has a very twisted personality like a psycho.I was very impressed by the character.”

Akshay Menon, a student in Amrita University wanted to be: “EDDIE MORRA” (Bradley Cooper) from Limitless. Reason : “When he is on the NZT drug, nothing is impossible for him. One can do anything he/she wants, learn anything within seconds, become unbelievably smart, successful, rich and his life becomes perfect. Even though it’s on drugs the life of a person turns into an amazing, happy journey !”

So I heard several people who wanted to become amazing characters. When I wondered what character I wanted to become, innumerable characters came to my mind and i found it very difficult to choose one. But i did come to a conclusion
I wanted to become: “BRUCE NOLAN” (Jim Carrey ) from the movie Bruce Almighty. Reason: I could be GOD ! I could do whatever I want with this universe. Bring peace to the world, cure people of their illnesses, and what not. I would have unlimited power. And i think that is really Awesome.

There were many other interesting characters that were mentioned by people. Some of them are: Tony Stark/Iron Man, King Leonaidas from 300. Tyler Duren from Fight Club,Frank Abagnale, Jr. from Catch me if you can, Black Widow from Avengers, Achilles from Troy, Ethan Hunt from Mission Impossible series, Wolverine from X men, Rancho from 3 idiots, Amitabh Bachchan from Deewar, Hrithik Roshan in Lakshya, and many more !!!
